We went on a spontaneous weekend trip to Orange NSW, 257km West of Sydney. During the 5h long train trip we saw green valleys with flocks of sheep and herds of cows as well as plenty of cockatoos. During sunset we enjoyed watching approx. 300 kangoroos in six mobs between Blayney and Bathurst bouncing along the train.
The mining town Orange surprised us at the cold temperatures around 0° degree with old European trees in lovely autumn colours and impressing old buildings from the early 20th century and even older.
