We escaped the apocalyptic Australian fires over Christmas and New Year to Norfolk Island. This 35 km” sized island is located between New Zealand, New Caledonia and Australia. The famous story about the mutiny on the Bounty is connected with Norfolk Island as many families are successors of the original mutineers who first settled on Pitcairn Island further to the East before moving finally to Norfolk Island. With a mild, nearly European climate with respective vegetation staying there reminds us at a time machine going back some 30 years. We had peaceful days without fireworks or noise, shared with wonderful lovely people.
